Walter H. Haas papers, 1935-2002.

The Walter H. Haas Papers contain materials related to Mr. Haas' interest and work in astronomical research and related observations. Though the term "amateur astronomer" is used to identify those field researchers whose credentials are from the other academic fields, the work Haas conducted with the Association of Lunar Planetary Observers (ALPO) and other academic groups involves meticulous research notes and field work. Included among the collection are correspondence, much of it with the astronomer Hugh M. Johnson, convention materials, printed material, and research drawings and photographs. The materials also consist of working files of Haas' study of astronomy and the planets. Photographs or drawings often accompany the notes from a particular subject, such as a planet and lunar and solar eclipses.
